The creative Curriculum – what it means to us.

Red Barn children choose their own topics.

In year five the first topic we chose was travel – it was brilliant! During the summer holidays we wrote our own travel diary. Once we were back at school we visited the local travel agent to find out what travel agents do. It was better than sitting down and going on the internet to find out because the internet is not always true. The trip to Davis World Travel showed us what types of text we needed to include, and we then could design our own success criteria for our finished work. We visited Hayling Island and thought about how we could persuade people to visit there. It’s more fun learning this way as we get to use lots of different skills and we have to organise our own work more so we are getting more independent.
